Donabate Marathon 28/03/15

On March 28th, East of Ireland Marathons will host Donabate's 1st & EOI's 50th marathon.
This is a mixed terrain, fairly flat course which consists of 5 loops of a 4.89mi route with a 0.89mi out/ back section at the start/finish.
Starting point will be just outside the gate at St. Patricks GAA Clubhouse.

Taking the 1st right, we head up "Reilly's Hill", a short incline through the forest.
And then into St. Ita's Hospital grounds.
After 0.89mi, we turn left starting the 1st of the 5 loops.
Then down Portrane Avenue, turning right at the main Hospital Gates and on up towards Portrane beach.
Keeping right, we then head up towards Tower Bay.
Then at Tower Bay, we join the Cliff Walk.
There's some beautiful scenery on the Cliff Walk, especially on a fine day. It's a popular spot for walkers and we are bound to meet a few on the way.
At about 5mi, we reach the Waterside Hotel and head past the Martello Tower and onto Donabate beach.
After an 0.8mi section on the beach, we will reach the turn-around point and then head back towards the Hotel.
From here, it's back onto the Cliff Walk for about 1mi, taking a left turn at the shelter.
The next section is up through the Hospital Grounds.
And then back to the start of the loop.
After 5 loops, hang a left and it's back to the Clubhouse with a nice little downhill back through the forest to the finish line.
Directions to St. Patrick's GAA Grounds, Ballymastone, Donabate.
